Happy Veterans Day and Have a Great Weekend!

(Image from Google Images)

Happy Veterans Day to all those that have served (and continue to serve) our country! Thank you for fighting for our freedom and rights!

The last few days have been very busy! Thank goodness it is Friday! The only things on our "to do list" this weekend is Princess T's musical rehearsal tonight, her basketball practice tomorrow and a trip to the library. I'm looking forward to resting the rest of the weekend!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Elections Are Coming Up!

Usually, I don't talk about politics. It's a very edgy topic for a lot of people. If I do talk about politics to others, it's mainly to those that I know I can joke around with and they won't take what I say so personally. It's always fun talking about politics to my dad, especially when I debate the "other side" to him. He is really funny when he gets worked up and he can't help himself even though he knows I'm kidding with him.

Tuesday is Mayor and City Counsel Election day in my area. And as dad always says, "You can't complain about how things are if you don't exercise your right to vote!" I am exercising my right to vote, but I am going to vote early (tomorrow). If you live in Indiana, please make sure to go out and vote on Tuesday! And to those that believe that their vote isn't counted I say, take it a step further and work the polls on election days! That way you can make sure that every vote is counted! That is what I will be doing on Tuesday!

Friday Fill~Ins!

Happy Friday! Though it's going to be a busy weekend, it's not going to be as busy as this week has been! Thank goodness I can rest a little bit! It's Friday Fill~In time! Click here to join the fun! I would LOVE to read what you come up with!
  1. In November, I most look forward to moving things forward so that I'll have a head start toward my top secret (for now) goal for 2012!
  2. Basketball practices and basketball games, homework, rehearsals, writing, several appointments, tests, group, "Project Citizens"...phew!
  3. It's right there, in the box on the left, next to the green notebook.
  4. Staying ahead of schedule gives me peace of mind.
  5. Water springs in the middle of the woods are more beautiful than large waterfalls, in my opinion.
  6. "You lay with dogs and you get fleas!" is what my grandmother used to say!
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to catching up on my sleep, tomorrow my plans include taking three girls to their basketball practice and Sunday I want to watch the Colts game!

Have a great weekend, and don't forget to comment! Join in the fun, you know you want to! Go ahead and click the link above!

Stranded?

A little Haiku I came up with over a year ago:

Stranded?

On a stranded path,
sunbeams, gentle breeze, birds sing,
rushing waters flow.

A Challenge!

November is the month for a couple of things. Of course, it's the month in which we remember what we are thankful for (though we should do this EVERY day! A separate post of everything that I'm thankful for will be posted later this month). It is also "National Novel Writing Month"! From what I gather (and those of you that know more about this than I do, please chime in and correct me if I'm wrong. I promise I won't mind!), this is the month when writers from across the nation set out to write a complete Novel! They each make a commitment to sit down and write a certain amount each day to have a complete Novel written by the end of this month.

Since I fell out of writing the last year or so, I've issued myself a different sort of challenge this month. I know I should shoot high, but I'm just starting to include writing in my schedule again. My challenge for this month is to post something here each day! I've also extended a challenge to Double A and Princess T, in which they are to write something in an assigned notebook everyday for the entire month. They were excited to accept the challenge from me. I laid out a few ground rules, such as: Daily writing is only counted when they write in their specific notebooks. They must write at least one paragraph, and one paragraph consists of at least four sentences and form a complete thought. And maybe a few more as we go along. Those are the main rules for now. I've also committed myself to writing in my own notebook, though the rules for my length of writing is a little bit longer than theirs. We are all ready to go and so far have completed our challenges the last two days! I am excited to see where this leads and hope that this will give them that jump start into writing. I'm also hoping that this will give me that jump start I need. I really miss writing, blogging, and all of my bloggy buddies out there!

Comment below and tell me, have you committed yourself to National Writing Month? Are you working on starting and completing a Novel within this month? Are you adding a twist to it and making your own challenge? Or are you going to write the same amount as you have every month that has passed? Please share!

Our Halloween!!

Testing, testing... Is there still anyone lurking out there? It has been a while, hasn't it? Life has been busy with having a teen and a preteen running around the house, keeping me on my toes! I admit, I should've been posting about how they've been keeping me on my toes! It never seems to stop or slow down! And after so many months, I think I finally have some what of a routine down!!

I hope everyone had a safe and fantastic Halloween/Samhain! Over all, our Halloween went pretty good. Poor Double A was sick and was not up to wearing a costume this year and Princess T dressed up as Punky Brewster. Double A wanted to hand out candy to the kids in the neighborhood, but I decided it was best not to, as I didn't want to pass his germs to them! In the end, there were more teens, a lot older and bigger than Double A that were out trick-or-treating than there were little kiddies out trick-or-treating. In my view Double A is too old to trick-or-treat, so the other teens in the neighborhood were too old to get candy I would have handed out anyway. I promised if he wasn't sick, then he could hand out candy next year.

I've decided that this is Princess T's last year to go trick-or-treating. She is getting too old to go out, too. She was a bit disappointed, as she thought that it meant that she couldn't wear a costume for Halloween either. Once I cleared that up, she was fine with that. I think she's looking forward to handing out candy to the kiddies next year (if she's not sick)! I can't wait to start a different tradition with them next year!

Princess T was a great Punky Brewster! She didn't just wear the costume, but she also carried the attitude!

Mr. Groundhog...

A new week is starting tomorrow and I'm not quite sure if I'm ready for it. The weather man is predicting more accumulating wintery, white, fluff for us! I don't like driving in the snow, though I must admit that driving on ice is a whole lot worse. I'm thankful that I haven't had to do that yet, this winter. The key word, being YET! Apparently, I'm not the only one that is ready for Spring!

Chatterbox must have figured that if he brought out the weed eater, it would bring Spring sooner!

          Dear Mr. Groundhog,

Please tell us that Spring will arrive early!

                                       Sincerely,
                                              Elisabeth

Changes

There are three guarantees in life: You live it, it changes, and it ends. One New Year Resolution that I made for myself was to blog at least once a week here for this year, but the changes that's been going on lately, has caused me to break it already! My hours at work has picked up the last couple of weeks and then they were changed to different days. I'm not going to complain too much about it because now, I will have my Saturdays to spend with my family and the time to get back into blogging world again!

Speaking of changes, I don't know about you, but I'm so ready for the season to change!

All of this,

on the ground is driving me crazy!

I am so ready for Spring!

Happy New Year!

Even with all the sniffling, sneezing, and coughing that I’ve been doing, I’m wishing all of my blog buddies and readers a very happy 2011! It would be extremely rude of me if I didn’t, right? So, Happy 2011, everyone!

Do you make New Year resolutions? Do you keep them? I’m curious to know! Leave a comment and share or leave a link to your blog post about it!

This year, I’ve made some resolutions. ~ To write more, (as in more blogging, yay!), and to gain some weight are just two (out of several) resolutions that I’ve made for this year.

I’ve been away from blogging for so long and I really do miss it! My goal for this year is to blog at least once a week. I have a new job, so blogging every single day isn’t a realistic goal. I will try to blog more often, but once a week is the most achievable goal for me at this time.

I really want to gain the 15 pounds that I’ve lost since I’ve started working. My new job requires at least 10 hours a day, four days a week worth of exercising and I’m not even working in a gym, go figure! I do enjoy my job as it does require me (and it does help me) to stay fit. I like to be fit, but think I need a little more weight, too! How many people actually say that?! Oh my, 2011 is going to be a-one-of-a-kind year!! Have a fantastic year!!
