The “Are You?” Meme

I’m participating in this week’s Sunday Stealing meme. If you’d like to join, click on the link above to leave a link to your blog or answer in the comments there (or here).

1. Are you a psychic in any way? ~ I believe that everyone is psychic in one way or another. Some more psychic than others. I would say, yes I am psychic in some way. I listen to that inner voice that tells me to take a different route to or from work, or that I need to watch my speed limit when driving because a cop is using a speed detector radar gun, without having a radar detector in my car. There are other things that I’ve experienced which tells me death is near for a loved one, so yes, I would say that I am psychic in some ways. Just not psychic enough to know what the lottery numbers will be so I can win it…..

2. Are you a good dancer?  ~ When I’ve had enough alcohol to drink, I am…. Otherwise, no I’m not a very good dancer at all….

3. Are you a good singer? ~ I used to be when I was younger. I don’t exercise my music voice very often, so now it just depends on the song… Or if I’ve had enough alcohol to drink….

4. Are you a good cook? ~ It depends on what it is that I’m cooking. I make delicious meals, but I have yet to conquer making sausage gray….  Don’t judge!

5. Are you a good artist? ~ I can draw houses, trees, rainbows, flowers, butterflies, teddy bears, and swing sets in a yard, but that is as far as my “artistic abilities” go.

6. Are you a good listener? ~ I like to think that I am.

7. Are you a good public speaker? ~ I’ve been told that I am.

8. Are you a good babysitter? ~ If the child/children aren’t the type/types that believe that all they have to do is cry or whine to get their way, I am. I will not babysit a whiney child.

9. Are you a good mechanic? ~ Well, I can change a tire, a battery, an alternator, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and change a cracked head on a car… So, for a female, I believe that I may be more advanced, but not an excellent mechanic.

10. Are you a good diplomat? ~ Yes, I like to believe that I am.

11. Are you a good employee? ~ I try to be a good employee. My employer can depend on me to come in on a daily basis, provide reasonable notice when I can’t, work later when needed, willing to learn from others as well as teach others and provide my 110% every single day. So yes, I would say that I’m a good employee.

12. Are you a good dresser? ~ I am during the week, but on the weekends, I could care less. Just clean clothes for me on the weekends and I’m happy.

13. Are you a good swimmer? ~ Like a dolphin! I love to swim!

14. Are you a good skier? ~ No, I’m not. I’ve never been skiing. It’s not really on my “bucket list” as something that I would like to do someday either.

15. Are you a good gift giver? ~ That depends on who you ask that has received gifts from me. The grateful ones would say that I am.

16. Are you a good musician? ~ Hmmm… I don’t play music much anymore. I was when I was in Jr. High and high school. Most of my classes back then has something to do with music, being singing or playing it.

17. Are you a good comedian? ~  I am when I’m over exhausted. I get crazy silly and come up with some really funny jokes when I’m overly tired.

18. Are you a good cleaner? ~ That’s what my teens are for! – Just kidding!! – Maybe I’m not kidding… I don’t like cleaning, but it has to be done….

19. Are you a good actor? ~ When I’m pulling a prank on someone…. And I can hold in the laughter… Okay, maybe I’m not a very good actor….

20. Are you a good writer? ~ My writing can use a lot of improvement, but from what I know, there are a lot of writers who believe that their writing could use a lot of improvement, too…. Even Steven King.

Top Five Favorite Quotes

1. “Learn something new every day.” ~ I’m not sure if this is someone else’s original quote or not, but I know I live by this on a daily basis. You never stop learning in life and there is always something new to learn, young or old.

2. “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” ~ Confucius – Life can get hard sometimes, but you have to keep going, even when you think you can’t. There is always a light at the end of the dark tunnel, no matter how dark it seems. Which brings me to my next favorite quote.

3. “When you get into a tight spot and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on another minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” ~Harriet Beecher Stowe – I’ve been told that I’m a very strong person by those who have seen my struggles, but this is the very quote that I remember when I’m going through difficult times and it helps keep me going and holding to faith that everything will work out. Guess what: they always do work out.

4. “There is nothing permanent, except change.” ~Heraclitus – It doesn’t matter if you are going through good times or bad times, the fact in life is that everything changes, all of the time.

5. “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” ~Alan Watts – I love changes because as I said above, everything changes. However, I know there are those that don’t like changes because they are afraid of them, they don’t understand the changes or the reason behind them. Changes, no matter if they are good or bad, are always made to help the person grow into something better, be it mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

Testing

Okay, so I've been feeling a bit "boggy," but with my new job, I don't have enough time to sit down and blog. I'm currently looking for and testing new apps that I can use on my Android phone that will will make blogging easier and faster. I'm currently using Droid blogger (I believe it is called). Are there others that may be better to use or am I using one of the best ones out there? Thoughts? Suggestions? Please share.

Thank You!!

I honestly believe that if you really want to find out who will provide you with their support in the goals that you set for yourself, then you should set a goal for yourself that will require a significant  amount of your time and dedication in order to achieve it. It will not take long before you come to realize exactly who it is that will support you and who would much rather see you fall flat on your face and watch you fail. Overall, it is completely up to you to decide which path you will take while achieving the goals you set for yourself. There is no one else to blame if you fail in achieving any goals that you set for yourself. Anything less than holding yourself accountable for every decision you make while attempting to achieve your goal is nothing more than a lame excuse.

I have finally finished all of my classes at DeVry University and have finally attained my Associates of Applied Science Degree in Electronics and Computer Technology. Achieving this goal has not been an easy path for me, but by knowing that I am fully responsible for achieving or failing to achieve this goal and by realizing exactly who is supportive of my achievement, I was able to remove every road block which presented itself during this time. This blog post is written to thank every one who has provided me with and shown me their support in one form or another.

From simply telling me how proud you are of me for striving so hard to reach this goal to reminding me that I am perfectly capable of reaching this goal no matter how rough it seems at that moment. From fully understanding that my decline to social events, parties or outings were not based on anything personal, but only based upon the hindrance such an invitation may cause in regards to reaching this goal, to ensuring my ability to focus and concentrate by preventing unnecessary interruptions. I do realize the sacrifice which my family and friends have given over the past two years for the sake of me achieving this goal and I thank each and every one of you for understanding how hard I worked to balance my family life, my social life, and my school life to the best of my ability.

Princess T, Double A, my mom, my dad, both of my brothers, my step-mom and step-sisters, most of my cousins (too many to name here, but I’m sure they know who they are), Phillip, Dana, T.C., Mike G., Mike P., Monica, Amanda, and to every one else who I unintentionally left out, I thank you all for providing your support to me while striving to achieve this goal. I’m truly blessed for having each and every one of you as family and friends, and I’m truly blessed for having each and every one of you a part of my life in some way or another.

Though I am finished with my education at DeVry University, this is only a “milestone” goal to my overall goal in regards to working with computers, electronics and technology. My next two “milestone” goals to achieve in order to reach my overall goal will be: to get an internship or an entry-level position in a small or medium sized business in order to hone my skills and knowledge gained through DeVry University, and to attain my CompTIA A+ certification, as well as other information technology certifications. This will require me to continue to learn new things and gain new skills on a daily basis and I look forward to all of this. Again, thank you all for providing me with your support. I am truly blessed!

A Bit of Bragging

My goodness what a busy year it has been for me thus far! Taking two classes during each “session” for the last six months at DeVry University and taking care of my family has taken a lot of my blogging time. The good news is, I am almost finished with my classes at DeVry, and by “almost finished” I mean my very last day of class is tomorrow! I am very excited and looking forward to beginning my new career in Information Technology. This means that I will have more time to blog on a regular basis and that is exactly what I plan to do.

As much as I would love to blog about how thankful I am to reach this major goal in my life and to thank everyone who has been supportive of me during my journey as a student. That is not what this blog post is about, but rest assure that I will be writing a “Thank You” post to all of those who have shown their support very soon. For now, I want to turn everyone’s attention to my lovely daughter, Princess T and how proud I am of her!

Princess T Grad_Blog_Redone

Princess T finally graduated from the 8th grade at the beginning of June and is now officially a freshman in high school. I can’t tell her enough how proud I am of her! She has worked very hard throughout the entire year, setting various goals for herself and striving to successfully achieve them all. She’d set goals for herself for the entire year, for each quarter of the year, and for the end of the year. Though things were rough for her at times and it seemed to her that she wouldn’t achieve them, she worked through all of her rough times and successfully reached every one of them!

One goal she set for herself at the beginning of the year was to read at least 50 books by the end of the school year. By the end of the school year she had read a total of 75 books and was the top student who had checked out the most number of books from her school library out of all the students in her entire school. Each quarter, she would set a goal to achieve high honor roll and successfully achieved high honor during each quarter. At the end of the school year, she discovered an opportunity to take an Algebra test which would allow her to receive a high school credit for Algebra without taking the high school Algebra class. She set a goal to take and pass this test so that she’d already have a high school credit before taking her first high school class. She successfully passed the Algebra test and upon finding this out, she has decided to fill the Algebra class she would have originally taken during her freshman year with a Geometry class instead!

All of the goals she set for herself and reaching every one of them needed no kind of coaxing or suggestions from me. She made each and every one of them on her own and I only provided my unconditional support and cheers every step of the way. With all of this, she has come to realize for herself just how capable she is of achieving anything she sets her mind to achieve and because of this her opportunities are endless! I’m so very proud of her for this!

Princess T, congratulations for achieving all of the goals you set for yourself and refusing to give up when they seemed too far out of reach, and congratulations for graduating with a high school credit already earned before setting foot in your first freshman class! Remember dream big, set goals, achieve them, and never give up when your goals seem out of reach. There is no greater feeling in knowing that despite all the challenges faced on the path of reaching your dreams and goals, you were able to overcome all of them and reach your goals and dreams anyway! And remember, I will always be right beside you, every step of the way, providing you with unconditional support, cheering you on, urging you forward, and celebrating all of your accomplishments, big or small! I am so very proud of you and I love you!!
